Changes for version 0.48 - 2026-10-20
- Enhancements
- Allow the remote user name to be given as user@host, as scp does
- Refuse hosts and user names beginning with '-' so they can't be taken as ssh options
- user@host is split at the last @, as ssh does, and the user is passed with ssh -l
- Paths may contain colons: the host ends at the first colon before any slash, as with scp
- Bug Fixes
- Paths like ./a:b are now treated as local files
- Quote the host name in the BROKEN_DNS_WORKAROUND ssh call
- CanonicalHostnames: add $VERSION, fix POD errors
- Remove unused temporary directory created on load
- Document that $File::Slurp::Remote::scp is unused
- Packaging
- Declare core, test and minimum perl dependencies; add LICENSE and repository metadata
- Testing
- Add t/remote_user.t, which doesn't need ssh access to localhost
- Add POD and POD coverage author tests, run in CI
